A-COLD-WALL* SS 2025 Maiocchi 10 Installation by Ken-Tonio-Yamamoto

“Pink Noise” is concerned with Britain's sonic culture, and, in particular, illicit radio broadcasting. Themes of music, memory and communal creativity were critical.

A-COLD-WALL* worked with artist Ken-Tonio Yamamoto to create an installation inspired by these ideas. This was held at Maiocchi 10 in Milan on 14-15 June, and served as an introduction to the collection. In a shrouded, ceremonial space, planned and executed by architecture office usa, an immersive score played, produced by Rainy Miller. Into this two-hour soundscape, Rainy Miller embedded reflections on personal relationships between space and sound.

Along the walls were subtly moving portraits of members of the ACW* network, dressed in ready-to-wear and concept pieces from the new collection. These include Aweng Chuol, Danni Harris, Don Letts, Goldie, Goy Michael, Jason Williamson, Jawnino, Laura Rylands and Seb Tabe.

These are the voices heard throughout the installation, along with others close to ACW*, including James Messiah, Kazeem Kuteyi, Luca Grottoli, Anna Pesonen and Najia Saad. A trip to the club in a new town. Making mixes on south London train journeys. Capturing time on tape. Soundsystems as safe-spaces. Longing for the sound of nature while moving between cities. The sound of helicopters interrupting the interview.
